The House of Hz. Mariyah (Meşrubetü Ümmü İbrahim) - The birthplace of the Prophet Muhammad's son Ibrahim

Hz. Mariyah al-Qibtiyya (d. 16/637) was of Christian descent from Egypt and was gifted to the Prophet Muhammad by the Governor of Egypt, Mukawqis. She arrived in Medina in 628 CE and quickly converted to Islam. The Prophet settled her in a pavilion (meşrube) built on land left to him by Muhayrik, a Muslim from the Banu Nadir Jews, in the Awali region of Medina. Hz. Mariyah resided there, and the Prophet would visit her frequently. In the month of Dhul-Hijjah in 630 CE, Hz. Ibrahim, the son of the Prophet, was born in this house. The Prophet was filled with great joy at the birth of his son; a festive atmosphere enveloped Medina, and the companions were sharing the good news with one another. However, Ibrahim passed away in 632 CE at just 16-18 months old. The Prophet could not hold back his tears at his son's funeral and said: "The eyes weep, and the heart is saddened; but we do not say anything except what pleases our Lord. O Ibrahim, your departure has deeply saddened us." On the day of Ibrahim's death, there was a solar eclipse; people said, "The sun was eclipsed at the mourning of his son." The Prophet corrected this interpretation, stating that the sun is not eclipsed for the death of any person.
