The House and Mihrab of Fatimah

Fatimah bint Muhammad (d. 11/632) is the youngest daughter of the Prophet Muhammad and Khadijah. Married to Ali ibn Abi Talib, Fatimah holds profound spiritual significance for the lineage of the Prophet and all Muslims. Fatimah lived in Medina very close to her father. Her house was located in the area of adjacent chambers to the Prophet's Mosque or very near it. The Prophet frequently visited his daughter, showing her special attention and love. Fatimah also visited her father every morning. Shortly before the Prophet's death, he informed Fatimah that she would soon join him. Fatimah cried; then the Prophet shared another secret with her, and this time she smiled. Aisha later learned the explanation of this incident from Fatimah: The Prophet had first announced that he would soon pass away; in the second instance, he said, "You are the first of my household to join me," which made Fatimah smile. Fatimah passed away in Medina only six months after her father's death in 11 AH/632 AD and was likely buried in Jannat al-Baqi.
