The House of Hz. Juwayriyyah

Hz. Juwayriyyah bint al-Harith (d. 56/676) is the daughter of Harith ibn Abi Dirar, the chief of the Banu Mustaliq tribe. She was captured during the Battle of Banu Mustaliq, which took place in the 5th of Shaban (December 626). When the Prophet saw her among the captives, he proposed marriage; Hz. Juwayriyyah accepted this proposal as a Muslim. This marriage had a historical consequence: the Companions released all the captives of Banu Mustaliq, thinking, "It is not right to keep the members of a tribe whose father-in-law is the Prophet as captives." Thanks to a single marriage, hundreds of people gained their freedom. Hz. Aisha said: "I have not seen another woman who brought so much goodness and blessing to her tribe." Hz. Juwayriyyah loved to engage in worship. After the death of the Prophet, she continued her life of worship. She passed away in Medina at the age of about 70 in 56 AH (676 AD).
