MapHistory
Âtike bint Abdülmuttalib is among the aunts of Hz. Prophet from the Hashim clan. According to some sources, she converted to Islam, while others state that she did not openly declare her faith. The most significant event that made Âtike historically notable is her dream before the Battle of Badr. According to the narration, a few days before the battle, Âtike had a frightening dream; she realized it was a harbinger of a great disaster. She shared this dream with her brother Abbas, who asked her to keep it secret. However, the news spread, and the Quraysh went on alert. Some sources indicate that this warning affected the preparations of the Quraysh army heading to Badr. Âtike's house was located near the Prophet's Mosque; the name Bâbürrahme (Bâbü Âtike) is derived from this location.
