House of Hz. Abbas

Hz. Abbas b. Abdülmuttalib (d. 32/653) is one of the greatest uncles of the Prophet Muhammad. He protected the Prophet during the Meccan period before openly becoming a Muslim; he was present among the ranks of the polytheists during the Battle of Badr but was saved by the Prophet. He converted to Islam after the conquest of Mecca or before the conquest; the Abbasid dynasty descends from him. The house of Hz. Abbas near the Prophet's Mosque became the scene of an important issue during the time of Hz. Umar: Hz. Umar wanted to expand the mosque due to the increasing number of Muslims; however, this expansion included a part of Hz. Abbas's house. Hz. Abbas objected and said, "Both the Prophet and Hz. Abu Bakr wanted to take this house, and I rejected it." In the prolonged negotiations, Hz. Ubayy b. Ka'b or another companion was called for arbitration, and a story about Solomon and David was narrated to reach the right path. Ultimately, Hz.
