Vatih Castle or Zubayr Castle

Vatih Castle (حصن الوطيح) is the name of one of the historical defensive structures belonging to Jewish tribes around Medina. This structure, also referred to as Zubayr Castle in some sources, was a strong fortified structure under the control of the Banu Nadir or other Jewish tribes. Various Jewish tribes had their own castles in the geography of Medina before and during the early Islamic period. These castles served both defensive and commercial storage functions. During the Banu Nadir Expedition (4 AH/625-626 CE), the Muslim army besieged the castles of this tribe; as a result of the siege, the Banu Nadir surrendered and left Medina. It is known that there is also a castle with the same name in the Hayber region. The Vatih Castle in Hayber is one of the last castles conquered by Muslims during the Hayber Expedition (7 AH/628 CE). This castle around Medina is part of an earlier defensive heritage.
