The tombs of our Prophet, Hz. Abu Bakr, and Hz. Omar, (the future tomb of Hz. Jesus) the house of Hz. Aisha

The tombs of Hz. Prophet, Hz. Abu Bakr, and Hz. Omar, along with the house of Hz. Aisha, are the most sacred places located together in the Hücre-i Saadet section of the Prophet's Mosque. Both the Prophet and the first two caliphs were buried here by their own will. The narration that Hz. Jesus will be buried here after the Day of Judgment makes this place even more special.

History

When Hz. Prophet felt his death approaching, he passed away in the room of Hz. Aisha (12th of Rabi' al-Awwal, 11 AH / June 8, 632 AD). The companions discussed where Hz. Prophet would be buried; Hz. Abu Bakr said: "I heard from Hz. Prophet: 'Every prophet is buried where he dies.'" Following this, the room of Hz. Aisha was excavated, and Hz. Prophet was buried there. Before his death, Hz. Abu Bakr expressed his wish to be buried next to Hz. Prophet. Hz. Omar also made a similar request and sought permission from Hz. Aisha. Hz. Aisha granted permission to both. Thus, three graves were formed side by side in the Hücre-i Saadet: Hz. Prophet in the middle, Hz. Abu Bakr on the left, and Hz. Omar on the far left. There are narrations in Islamic tradition that Hz. Jesus will descend before the Day of Judgment, complete his life, and be buried next to Hz. Prophet. According to this narration, a fourth burial place has been reserved in the Hücre-i Saadet. With the inclusion of Hz. Aisha's room into the Hücre-i Saadet later on, this house has become the sacred place where Hz. Prophet took his last breath, resided, and was buried.
