The sacrifice of the animal nearing death at Uhud

In this event that took place during the Battle of Uhud (H. 3/M. 625), according to the narration mentioned in the explanation section, it is reported that a person from the Harise tribe sacrificed an injured or dying animal. In Islamic law, preventing animals from suffering is accepted as a fundamental principle. Sacrificing an animal that is nearing death or injured without delay is recommended both to shorten the animal's pain and to prevent the meat from being wasted. Such spontaneous decisions made during the Battle of Uhud demonstrate how legal rulings were applied under wartime conditions. The Prophet Muhammad explained to the companions under what circumstances a sacrifice could be made; he allowed the use of any cutting tool as long as blood was shed and stated that saying bismillah, even hastily, was a condition.
