The grave of Hz. Ziyad b. Seken

Ziyâd b. Seken al-Ensârî al-Evsî (d. 3/625) is from the Beni Abdüleşhel branch of the Aws tribe. He is a great companion who participated in the battles of Badr and Uhud. At the most critical moment of the Battle of Uhud, when the polytheist troops attacked the area where the Prophet Muhammad was located, Ziyâd b. Seken rushed forward with five others to protect the Prophet. This selfless small group formed a shield to protect the Prophet by fighting hand-to-hand with the enemy. All five were martyred. According to narrations, as Ziyâd b. Seken was taking his last breath, the Prophet Muhammad came to his side. The Prophet laid his face on Ziyâd's face; Ziyâd closed his eyes in this state. This moment is one of the most touching expressions of deep love and loyalty to the Prophet Muhammad.
