The verses 9-27 of Surah Al-Ahzab were revealed in Medina during the period of the Battle of the Trench (H. 5/M. 627). Surah Al-Ahzab, which is a Medinan surah, is the 90th in the order of revelation and was revealed after the Battle of the Trench in the fifth year of Hijra. The content of these verses can be evaluated under several main headings: **Allah's assistance in the battle (verses 9-11):** During these critical days when the polytheist and Jewish forces launched a major alliance against Medina, it is narrated that Allah sent an invisible support to the believers, and their faith was tested at those moments when their hearts were constricted. "O you who have believed! Remember the favor of Allah upon you when armies came to you and We sent against them a wind and armies you did not see." **The attitude of the hypocrites (verses 12-20):** The hypocrites, who revealed their true faces during the trench digging and under enemy siege, are detailed in these verses. Some were saying, "If the Meccans come to us, we will immediately surrender." It was clear that the hypocrites were making excuses to avoid participating in the battle and were looking for ways to escape. **The example of the Prophet (verse 21):** "Indeed, in the Messenger of Allah, you have a good example for whoever has hope in Allah and the Last Day and remembers Allah often." This famous verse was revealed in the context of the trench and presents the Prophet's personal participation in the trench digging and his ability to maintain patience and resilience in the most difficult moments as a perfect example of leadership. **The punishment of Banu Qurayza (verses 26-27):** Verses related to the siege and fate of Banu Qurayza, who broke the treaty as the siege of the trench came to an end, are also included in this surah.
