Battlefield of Buas

The Battle of Buas (around AD 617) represents the climax of the long civil wars between the two Arab tribes of Medina, Aws and Khazraj. These two tribes engaged in multiple major battles against each other for nearly 120 years. The Battle of Buas is recorded in historical sources as a battle won by Khazraj; however, both sides suffered heavy losses. After the war, these two tribes, whose wounds did not heal, united as "Ansar" thanks to the effective leadership of the Prophet Muhammad with the advent of Islam. According to an important narration reported by Aisha, the Battle of Buas laid the groundwork for their acceptance of Islam during the migration period of the Prophet: "The day of Buas was a day prepared by Allah for the Messenger of Allah." According to this interpretation, the losses that the tribes suffered against each other in this great battle made them in need of the arbitration and leadership of the Prophet.
