Tahajjud Mihrab and the Old Kaaba Painting

Tahajjud prayer is a voluntary prayer performed after waking up from sleep after midnight, and it was one of the most regular acts of worship in the life of the Prophet Muhammad. Allah Almighty commanded the Prophet in Surah Al-Muzzammil, "Wake up during part of the night and pray Tahajjud as a special favor to you." The Prophet Muhammad used to pray Tahajjud every night; it is reported that he stood for so long in prayer that his feet would swell. When Hz. Aisha saw this, she asked, "O Messenger of Allah! Why do you tire yourself so much when all your past and future sins have been forgiven?" The Prophet replied, "Do I not wish to be a grateful servant?" The Tahajjud Mihrab marks the point where the Prophet Muhammad performed his night prayers. The old Kaaba painting in the mosque is among the artworks that were hung on the walls or in special sections of the Prophet's Mosque throughout history.
