Ravza-i Mutahhara - Green Carpets

Ravza-i Mutahhara is a special area within the Prophet's Mosque, approximately 22 meters long and 15 meters wide. Today, this area is distinguished by being covered with a green carpet, while its surroundings are covered with a red carpet. The hadith of the Prophet Muhammad regarding Ravza has defined the physical boundaries of this area: at one end is the Prophet's house and grave (Hujratu Sa'adet), and at the other end is the pulpit. Within these boundaries, the mihrab where the Prophet Muhammad prayed is among the essential elements of Ravza. Praying, making dua, and reading the Quran in Ravza is considered extremely virtuous in Islamic tradition. For this reason, thousands of visitors queue for hours every day to enter Ravza. Due to the demand exceeding the capacity of Ravza, the Saudi Arabian administration imposes entry restrictions at certain times. Ravza is also the closest point to Hujratu Sa'adet, which houses the graves of Abu Bakr and Umar.
