Poetic verses sung while digging the trench

During the preparation process for the Battle of the Trench (H. 5/M. 627), it was decided to dig a trench approximately five thousand meters long in the north of Medina upon the advice of Salman al-Farsi. This massive construction was completed in about twenty days. This collective effort, in which the Prophet Muhammad personally participated and led, symbolized the unity and determination of the companions. It is narrated that during the excavation, the companions sang melodic poems to uplift their spirits while struggling with fatigue and hunger. The most famous of these poems included the lines: "We are those who pledged allegiance to Muhammad, To fight for Islam eternally." Or in another narration, the companions said: "By Allah, if it weren't for Allah, We would neither find guidance nor give charity. O Allah, send down tranquility upon us, And make our feet firm when we encounter the enemy." At the end of each verse, the Prophet Muhammad would join in saying, "Allahümme lâ hayra illâ hayru'l-âhireh, fağfir li'l-ensâri ve'l-muhâcireh" (O Allah, true goodness is the goodness of the Hereafter; forgive the Ansar and the Muhajirun). In this scene, it is conveyed that the Prophet Muhammad worked physically and participated in the melodies to keep the morale of the companions high. The miraculous lightning that struck while they were digging the rocks during those days is also associated with this process.
