Medina Harameyn High-Speed Train Station

The Harameyn High-Speed Train Project is a massive infrastructure project implemented by Saudi Arabian Railways (SAR) that connects Mecca and Medina. Planning for the line began in 2009; construction intensified in 2011 and it was opened for full operation in 2018. The line includes five stations: Mecca, King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC), Jeddah King Abdulaziz Airport, Jeddah Al Sulaymaniah, and Medina. The total length of the line is approximately 450 km, and it operates Alstom-made Talgo trains that can reach speeds of up to 300 km/h. Medina Station serves as the northern terminal of the line. The station is located within a massive complex of 5.5 million square meters and is designed with modern infrastructure to ensure a comfortable journey for pilgrims and Umrah performers. It can be seen as a revival of the Hejaz Railway, which was completed by the Ottomans in 1908, with modern technology nearly 110 years later.
