King Fahd Glorious Quran Printing Complex was built in Medina by the order of the fifth King of Saudi Arabia, Fahd b. Abdulaziz, and was inaugurated in 1985. The facility is the largest Quran printing center in the world, printing an average of 10-18 million copies of the Quran annually; this number sometimes rises to 30 million. The printing house meticulously reviews the Quran text before printing. Text verification is conducted by Islamic scholars before each print, maintaining a near-zero tolerance for errors. Different readings and various font sizes tailored for different regions of the world are used in the prints. The printed Qurans are distributed free of charge to pilgrims during the Hajj season each year; they are also sent for free to Islamic communities, mosques, schools, and those in need around the world.
