Hz. Havvat b. Cübeyr (r)

Havvât b. Cübeyr b. en-Nu'mân el-Ensârî (d. 40/660-61) is understood to have been born around 587 AD. He belongs to the Aws tribe. His brother Abdullah b. Cübeyr is the martyr companion who was appointed by the Prophet Muhammad as the commander of the archers during the Battle of Uhud (3 AH/625 AD). Abdullah b. Cübeyr was stationed with thirty archers on the Ayneyn hill in Uhud. The Prophet Muhammad had given him a clear command: "Do not leave your position, no matter what!" However, after the initial attacks of the Quraysh army, most of the archers abandoned their positions for the spoils. Abdullah b. Cübeyr remained true to the command and did not leave his post, and as a result, he was martyred. The severe shaking of the army and the injury of the Prophet Muhammad were directly related to this event. Despite his brother's heavy martyrdom, Havvât b. Cübeyr continued his devotion to Islam. He lived a long life that extended until 40 AH/660-61 AD. This long life made him one of the rare companions who witnessed both the time of the Prophet Muhammad and the entire reigns of the first four caliphs. The place of Havvât b.
