History

This garden, named after Hz. Fatima, is said to be located near the northern section of the Prophet's Mosque. Hz. Fatima is associated with this garden and open areas because she lived close to her father's mosque. Hz. Fatima bint Muhammad (d. 11/632) is the daughter of the Prophet and Hz. Khadijah, the wife of Hz. Ali, and the mother of Hz. Hasan and Hz. Husayn. She is remembered for her deep devotion to her father and her piety in worship. This area, located very close to her home, was part of Hz. Fatima's daily life in Medina. Today, large umbrellas that open and close have been installed in this area as part of the expansions of the Prophet's Mosque. These umbrellas provide protection from the sun for pilgrims, especially during the Hajj and Umrah seasons.
