Hz. Amr b. Muaz (brother of Sa'd b. Muaz)

Hz. Amr b. Muaz al-Ansari is a companion belonging to the Aws tribe of Medina and the Abdüleşhel clan. As his name suggests, he is the brother of Hz. Sa'd b. Muaz, a close friend of the Prophet Muhammad and a hero of the Battle of the Trench. Martyred in the Battle of Uhud (3 AH/625 AD), Amr b. Muaz sacrificed his life for Islam as a young companion. Upon returning from Uhud, the Prophet Muhammad saw the women and elderly of the Ansar coming forward. Among them was Amr's mother. The companion who conveyed the news of the martyrdom to his mother said, "Your son Amr has been martyred." According to the narration, the mother first asked about the health of the Prophet Muhammad; upon learning that he was injured but alive, she thanked Allah: "Every calamity is bearable as long as the Prophet is alive." This event is one of the most striking scenes that demonstrate the depth of faith of the women companions and their love for the Prophet Muhammad. The attitude of this mother, who wanted to learn about her son's martyrdom only after confirming the health of the Prophet Muhammad, is a concrete reflection of the value hierarchy narrated in Islamic history.
