Gate No. 3 (Gate of Mercy)

The doors of the Prophet's Mosque have been systematically numbered during the modern expansion periods. Each door takes its name from either a historical companion, a caliph, or a Saudi ruler. The Gate of Mercy is the modern equivalent of one of the historical gates of the Prophet's Mosque. This gate is based on one of the three gates of the original mosque of the Prophet.
