MapHistory
The doors of the Prophet's Mosque have been systematically numbered during the modern expansion periods. Each gate is named after a historical companion, caliph, or Saudi ruler. The Kuba Gate is named in reference to the Kuba Mosque, which was built by the Prophet Muhammad during his migration to Medina and represents the first mosque in Islamic history.
