History

This column located in the Prophet's Mosque's Rawdah is known by multiple names: "Ustuvanetu Jibril" (Gabriel's Column), "Marbaatu'l-Qabr" (Column of the Grave's Corner), or due to its proximity to this area, it is referred to as "Gabriel's Column." The name "Marbaatu'l-Qabr" (Column of the Grave's Corner) derives from the column's location on or near the inner side of the wall surrounding the Prophet's grave. In some narrations, it is mentioned as the point where Gabriel descended to bring revelation to the Prophet; hence, the column is also called "Gabriel's Column." Hz. Fatima's Mihrab marks the point in this area where Hz. Fatima prayed or worshipped in her father's mosque. Hz. Fatima regularly visited the Prophet's Mosque and prayed there.
