Fedek Village ( فدك - الحائط  Al Hait) City Historic

Fedek is a fertile Jewish village located on the route between Medina and Khaybar, southwest of Khaybar. Today it is known as 'Al-Hait'; its center is located in northwestern Saudi Arabia. In 628 AD, immediately after the conquest of Khaybar, the Prophet Muhammad sent Muhayyisa b. Mas'ud from the Ansar to invite the Jews of Fedek to Islam. Intelligence reports indicated that the people of Fedek were preparing against the Muslims in alliance with the Banu Sa'd tribe. Eventually, the people of Fedek made an agreement to leave half of their land to the Prophet Muhammad and continued to stay in their place. Since it was captured without a battle, Fedek was allocated directly to the Prophet Muhammad as state revenue (fay') and was not shared with other companions. During his lifetime, the Prophet Muhammad spent the revenues from Fedek on the needy, travelers, and his family. After his death, Fatimah claimed that Fedek was transferred to her by inheritance or donation and requested it from Caliph Abu Bakr. Abu Bakr rejected this request, citing the hadith, "Prophets do not leave inheritance; what we leave is charity." Fatimah was heavily affected by this decision; it is reported that she did not speak to Abu Bakr until her death. The Fedek issue continued to change hands in later periods: the Abbasid caliph al-Ma'mun returned the land to the grandchildren of Fatimah; al-Mutawakkil took it back.
