Darun'nahle

Dâru'n-Nahle is one of the important historical sites in Medina. In sources, this land is described as "at the end of Balât, next to Abbas's residence." The area was located northwest of Medina, near the historical neighborhoods surrounding the Prophet's Mosque. The name Nahle means "palm tree" in Arabic. This name indicates the region's natural structure surrounded by abundant palm orchards. Agricultural lands in Medina, especially palm groves, were of great economic and strategic importance. After the expulsion of the Banu Nadir Jews during the time of the Prophet, many palm groves and lands belonging to them came under the Prophet's control. These lands were distributed among the emigrants and poor Muslims. While Dâru'n-Nahle maintains its place within the general geography of Medina, it is more often defined through its relationship with neighboring sites in historical sources. Balât was an important point used in the sense of historical streets and squares in Medina. Its proximity to Hz. Abbas's residence made Dâru'n-Nahle a site directly connected to the family of the Prophet.
