Abu Ineba Well

The Abu Ineba Well is a historical water source located outside Medina, along the Medina-Makkah route. According to reports, the Prophet Muhammad stopped his army at this well after the Battle of Uhud and the soldiers performed ablution and prayed. The Hamra al-Asad expedition was organized the day after Uhud. Despite heavy losses at Uhud, the Muslim army set out again, even with the wounded. The Prophet Muhammad had two goals with this expedition: to prevent the Quraysh from returning and attacking Medina and to rejuvenate the morale of the Muslims. This stop at the well provided both practical (water needs) and spiritual (prayer) support for the weary and wounded army. During the time of the Prophet Muhammad, the wells around Medina were strategically important for both the city's water supply and the logistical needs of military operations.
