The Cave of Miğfer (Kehfu'l-Hûze) where Rasulullah received his first treatment

During the Battle of Uhud (3 AH/625 CE), at a time when the attacks of the polytheists intensified, the Prophet Muhammad was severely injured. One of his lower teeth was broken by a stone thrown by Utbah b. Abi Waqqas, and two armor rings pierced his cheek. The Prophet immediately retreated to a small and safe cave; this cave later came to be known as Kehfu'l-Hûze (Cave of Miğfer). Ali and the companions carried the wounded there; Fatimah brought a burning mat to stop her father's bleeding and used its ashes to dress the wound. The task of removing the armor rings from the Prophet's cheek fell to Abu Ubaidah b. al-Jarrah. Abu Ubaidah grasped the ring with his teeth and pulled; during this, his own front teeth broke. In response to his sacrifice, the Prophet said: "Abu Ubaidah is the trustworthy one of the ummah." The Prophet rested in the cave for a while; Abu Bakr and Talha served him. The polytheists could not find the cave; the Prophet was protected.
