Buthan Valley Dam (Sed)

Buthan Valley is an important valley that starts near Mount Uhud in the north of Medina and extends southward, forming one of the city's historical water sources. The Prophet Muhammad said about this valley: "Buthan valley is one of the valleys of paradise." This hadith highlights the spiritual significance of the valley in Islamic tradition. Despite its arid surroundings, Medina was relatively rich in water sources thanks to such valleys. The floodwaters in Buthan Valley would flow to Medina, contributing to agriculture and drinking water supply. In modern times, a dam and water management infrastructure have been built at a certain point in this valley. This infrastructure is designed to meet the water needs of Medina's growing population and to prevent flooding.
