Shaykhayn (Udve / Der'a / Bada'i Mosque)

Shaykhayn Mosque (Udve / Der'a / Bada'i Mosque) is a mosque established in a historical location named after two towers meaning 'two old men' on the eastern route between Medina and Mount Uhud. The Prophet Muhammad camped his army here before the Battle of Uhud and spent the night; he continued on his way in the morning.

History

Shaykhayn (two old men / two elders) is a location named after the two elders who sat here or from two towers or castles. It is located on the eastern road between Medina and Mount Uhud. Before the Battle of Uhud (3 AH / 625 CE), the Prophet Muhammad set out from Medina with an army of about 1,000 men. During this journey, when he arrived at the Shaykhayn location, he spent the night. The Muslim army camped here; the Prophet Muhammad had stationed a guard until morning. After this rest stop, the Prophet Muhammad set out with the army in the morning and reached the foot of Mount Uhud. The Shaykhayn location holds an important place in the historical chronology of the Battle of Uhud and represents the last stop before the battle.
