Senusi Mosque

The Senusi order is an Islamic order founded by Muhammad b. Ali es-Senusi (d. 1276/1859) in 1837 on Mount Abu Qubays in Mecca. The order quickly gained significant influence in North Africa, Hijaz, and Sudan, becoming a powerful political and religious force, especially in Libya. Senusi spent many years studying in Mecca and Medina, leaving a profound spiritual legacy in these holy cities. This mosque, named after him, bears witness to the presence and spiritual impact of the order in Medina.
