Sayed Al Shuhada Mosque

Sayed Al Shuhada Mosque is a large mosque built on the battlefield of Uhud and opened to service in the new era. It was constructed in this historical area to commemorate the martyrs of the Battle of Uhud, primarily Sayed Al Shuhada Hz. Hamza, and serves as a place of worship for pilgrims visiting the region.

History

The area of the Battle of Uhud (H. 3/M. 625) is one of the most visited historical sites in Medina. Every year, millions of visitors come to visit the grave of Hz. Hamza, Mount Uhud, the Archers' Hill, and the battlefield during the Hajj and Umrah seasons. To accommodate this heavy visitor traffic, there was a need to build a large-capacity mosque in the Uhud square. The Sayed Al Shuhada Mosque was designed to meet this need and was completed and opened for service. The name of the mosque comes from Hz. Hamza's title "The Master of Martyrs." The mosque is designed to cater to a large congregation; it hosts large crowds during prayer times against the majestic silhouette of Mount Uhud.
