Ra'ye Sancak Mosque (Mosque of Zübab)

Mount Zübab is a hill located around or at the foothills of Mount Sel' and is close to the area of the Battle of the Trench. The narration that the Prophet Muhammad prayed at this point forms the basis of the mosque. The name "Ra'ye" (banner) is associated in some narrations with the Prophet Muhammad's banner being erected on or near Mount Zübab. Ibn Zebâle (d. 199/814) mentions this mosque among the places where the Prophet prayed in his work Ahbârü'l-Medîne. Due to its proximity to the area of the Battle of the Trench, the mosque carries the historical and religious atmosphere of that period. The places around Mount Sel' are concrete witnesses to the worship life that the Prophet Muhammad maintained during the war.
