Mustarah Mosque (Beni Harise)

Mustarah Mosque is located on the route between Medina and Mount Uhud, near the Beni Harise neighborhood. It is also known as Beni Harise Mosque. The Battle of Uhud (3 AH/625 CE) was a heavy battle; Muslims lost 70 martyrs, and the Prophet Muhammad was wounded on his face and teeth. While returning to Medina heavily loaded and tired after the battle, the Prophet took a break and rested at this point. This break was not only related to physical fatigue; it was also a moment to breathe under the emotional weight of leaving the martyrs behind, the pain of the wounded, and the aftermath of the battle. Upon returning from Uhud, the Prophet visited the graves of the martyrs and then rested at this point upon entering Medina. There are also narrations that prayers were performed here. The tradition of building mosques at the places where the Prophet visited and worshiped by his companions and later generations forms the basis of this mosque. [Source: F. Z. Kamacı, Hz.
