Mosque of Hz. Omar

The Prophet Muhammad generally led the Eid prayers in open prayer grounds outside the mosque in Medina. Among these prayer grounds were various locations, including the Gamame Mosque. The Mosque of Hz. Omar was built at one of these Eid prayer locations. During the caliphate of Hz. Omar (A.H. 13-23 / A.D. 634-644), he adhered closely to the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad and continued to lead the Eid prayers in the traditional areas where the Prophet Muhammad had led them. This tradition was also continued by subsequent caliphs. The reference 'Hz. Omar' in the name of the mosque indicates that the mosque was built during the caliphate of Hz.
