Hz. Ali Mosque

Hz. Ali b. Ebû Tâlib (d. 40/661) was the cousin, son-in-law of the Prophet Muhammad, and the fourth caliph of Islam. Entering Islam at a young age and growing up alongside the Prophet, Hz. Ali was one of his closest and most trusted companions. Hz. Ali prayed in many places in Medina; mosques were built in these sacred locations in later periods. There are multiple mosques named after Hz. Ali in different neighborhoods of Medina. The most well-known of these is the Hz. Ali Mosque in the area of the Battle of Hendek; the mosque shown on this map indicates a location in a different area of Medina. Hz. Ali's role in Medina is multifaceted: he prayed close to the Prophet in the Mosque of the Prophet, took on various duties, served as a scribe and ambassador. He risked his life by lying in the Prophet's bed on the night of the Hijra; with this sacrifice, he became one of the bravest and most loyal companions in Islamic history. [Source: "Ali b.
