Hz. Abu Bakr Mosque

Hz. Abu Bakr participated personally in the Battle of the Trench (H. 5/M. 627) and did not leave the side of the Prophet for the duration of the long siege. This mosque was built at the place where he prayed in the Trench region. Hz. Abu Bakr Abdullah b. Abi Kuhafa as-Siddiq (d. 13/634) is one of the first free Quraysh to embrace Islam. He is the closest friend of the Prophet, a companion during the Hijra, and the recipient of the first revealed good news. He earned the title "as-Siddiq" (the truthful) due to his unwavering confirmation of the Prophet's miraculous night journey. The mosque has been renovated during the Ayyubid and Ottoman periods.
