Hz. Abu Bakr Mosque

The Hz. Abu Bakr Mosque (Hendek Region) is a historical mosque built at the place where Hz. Abu Bakr as-Siddiq prayed during the Battle of the Trench, located south of the Conquest Mosque. This mosque preserves the worship tradition of the companions from the Trench period.

History

Hz. Abu Bakr personally participated in the Battle of the Trench (H. 5/M. 627) and did not leave the side of the Prophet for the duration of the long siege. This mosque was built at the place where he prayed in the Trench region. Hz. Abu Bakr Abdullah b. Abi Quhafa as-Siddiq (d. 13/634) is one of the first free Quraysh to embrace Islam. He is the closest friend of the Prophet, a companion during the Hijra, and the recipient of the first revealed glad tidings. He earned the title "as-Siddiq" (the truthful) because he unhesitatingly affirmed the Prophet's night journey. The mosque has been renovated during the Ayyubid and Ottoman periods.
