Fesih Mosque

During the Battle of Uhud (3 AH/625 CE), Muslims found themselves caught between two fires after the archers' hill was vacated and the Quraysh cavalry surrounded them from behind. In the ensuing panic, the Muslim ranks dispersed; the Prophet Muhammad retreated to the slopes of Mount Uhud with a few companions. During this retreat, the Prophet was wounded on his face; a tooth was broken, and two rings of armor pierced his cheek. Some accounts mention that the Prophet fell into a pit or a narrow passage in Uhud. Most of the companions, including Ali, protected him, helping them to survive this difficult moment. The cave or crevice on the slope of Mount Uhud is associated with a point known as Mihras. The Fesih Mosque was built at the foot of Mount Uhud, one of the places that witnessed these historic moments. The spots where the Prophet leaned, was protected, or prayed have been carefully preserved in Islamic tradition.
