Beni Cüheyne (Beni Gıfar- Ebu Meryem Amr b. Mürre el-Cühenî) Mosque

Cüheyne is one of the important tribes of Hijaz and played an active role in the spread of Islam. The narrative that members of Cüheyne and Bekî who emigrated to Medina came together and needed a mosque to meet their prayer needs forms the historical background of this mosque. The Prophet Muhammad designated a place for the mosque for this community; however, according to some reports, he did not pray there himself. This information indicates that the mosque has a different status than the mosques where the Prophet Muhammad prayed himself. The mosque is a concrete reflection of the Prophet Muhammad's understanding of considering the worship needs of different tribes and preparing places for each group to worship in their own neighborhoods.
