Acuz (Beni Hatme) Beni Zafer Mosque

The Acuz Mosque is located in the neighborhoods of Beni Zafer and Beni Hatme of the Aws tribe, around Kuba in Medina. According to Ibn Zebâle, the woman who gave her name to this mosque was from Beni Suleym and later married someone from Beni Zafer b. al-Haris and settled in this area. The mosque's name 'Acuz' (elderly woman) is derived from the fact that this woman resided in this location. There is a narration that the Prophet Muhammad prayed in this mosque in Medina; this elevates the mosque from an ordinary neighborhood to the depths of history. Beni Hatme is one of the branches of the Aws tribe and was located in the southern part of Medina, near Kuba. Beni Zafer is another branch affiliated with the Aws. The naming of the mosque after these two tribes reflects the demographic and tribal structure of the region.
